04.30.2007 - New book by Sting entitled 'LYRICS by Sting' to be published this October by the Bantam Dell Publishing Group...

The Bantam Dell Publishing Group announced today that it will publish the second book by Sting, the world-renowned and award-winning singer, songwriter and human rights activist, on October 23, 2007. The book, entitled 'LYRICS by Sting', will be a comprehensive collection of lyrics and commentary written by Sting, spanning his entire career from the early days of The Police through his most recent solo rock album, 'Sacred Love'. It will be published in hardcover by The Dial Press imprint of the Bantam Dell Publishing Group this fall in the midst of the historic Police reunion tour that is selling out venues across North America and the world. The Dial Press also published Sting's acclaimed New York Times bestselling memoir, 'Broken Music', in hardcover in 2003 and in trade paperback in 2005.
'LYRICS by Sting' will include lyrics from well over 100 songs, presented in chronological order by album. Exclusive for this book, Sting has penned brand new commentary about the writing process of his songs, the albums, and his career as a songwriter. He will also write an introduction to the book and it will include photographs from each period of his career.
"Over time, the meaning of a song can continue to reveal itself," he says. "In putting this book together, I have relished the opportunity to revisit my songs, the times in which they were written and pay tribute to those with whom I've shared my creative life."
Irwyn Applebaum, President and Publisher of The Bantam Dell Publishing Group, acquired North American hardcover, paperback and book club publishing rights to the book for the company along with Susan Kamil, VP, Editorial Director of the Dial Press, who will edit the book. The author was represented by Joel Gotler of The Intellectual Property Group, who holds foreign rights to the title. The Bantam Dell Publishing Group is a division of Random House, Inc, whose parent company is Bertelsmann AG.
